Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts didn't know the severity of star point guard Damian Lillard's rib injury until Game 3 on Saturday.

After the Blazers lost Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals to the Golden State Warriors, it was reported that Lillard is playing through separated ribs. The Blazers guard suffered the injury in Game 2 at Oracle Arena.

“I wasn't much aware of it,” Blazers coach Terry Stotts said of Lillard's injury, denying he knew the health status of his most important player, via Brian Windhorst of ESPN. “I didn't know how much it was bothering him until [Saturday].”

Lillard scored 19 points in Game 3 while shooting just 5-of-18 from the field and 3-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Blazers star won't make any excuses, but it's clear the rib injury is affecting Lillard's play.

The Blazers are down 0-3 in the series. Game 4 is Monday in Portland. Lillard and C.J. McCollum pretty much have to play perfect in Game 4 for the Blazers to avoid the sweep. The Warriors will be extra motivated to win Game 4, as they would have over a week off if they close the series out on Monday.

If Monday is the last game for Portland, the players should hold their heads high. It's been a tremendous season for them.
