Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts liked what he saw from Seth Curry's fill-in start for injured All-Star guard Damian Lillard. Following their game against the Atlanta Hawks, Stotts sung praises for how his reserve guard stepped up to help the team secure the 120-111 home win.

“It's been tough for him, coming off the bench and playing behind Dame and CJ and coming into a new team,” Stotts said per ESPN. “All that — it's been a rough transition, but I think he showed tonight what he's capable of. He stepped up, I mean we needed a performance like that from him tonight.”

Lillard sat out the contest due to right knee soreness, and Curry took full advantage of this opportunity.

Curry finished the game with a season-high 22 points, with four three-pointers, and shot an efficient 8-of-13 from the field. He was particularly key in the Blazers' run to close out the Hawks, knocking down three 3-pointers to help Portland pull away in the final minutes.

Portland signed the younger Curry to a two year $5.6-million deal this off-season. Curry had just returned from a year-long absence after sitting out the entire 2017-18 season due to a left tibia injury that required surgery late last season.

After going MIA last season, it seems like Seth has found his place back in the league as the back-up guard for the backcourt tandem of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. In 45 appearances this season, Curry is averaging just 6.3 points, on 44 percent shooting from the field and 48 percent shooting from deep.
