Despite being pummeled by the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is still in awe of Carmelo Anthony, calling him ‘one of the best players ever.'

In his fourth game back, Anthony put on a vintage performance with 25 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. He was 10-of-20 from the field, 4-of-7 from deep, and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line. After the game, LaVine admitted that he's ecstatic to see Anthony back in the NBA.

“I always advocated for him to be in the NBA,” Bulls guard Zach LaVine said, per Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic. “He might not be the old Melo, but he’s still pretty goddamn good. He’s better than a lot of people in the NBA, and he’s still getting it done. I think it was just bigger than that, and I’m glad to see him back here. Just not tonight.”

“I know he’s just back, but he had a flashback night. He’s one of the best players ever.”

Like Zach LaVine, many wondered why Anthony — a 10-time All-Star and a record three-time Olympic Gold Medal winner — was still looking for a team last summer. Though he was in the twilight of his career, analysts believed that he is still way better than most NBA players who currently have a team.

This puzzled Anthony himself who made it clear to everyone that he's willing to take on whatever role is needed from him — provided that the team communicates it properly. Fortunately, the Blazers heard his plea. Though the Blazers are 1-3 with him, there's a whole lot of season left for the team to turn things around. Anthony, for his part, has a chance to continue his legacy as one of the greats that this game has seen.
