The Portland Trail Blazers have done a nice job of adding pieces and retaining others so far this summer. They've traded for Jerami Grant, drafted Shaedon Sharpe, and extend both Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic while also signing defensive lynchpin Gary Payton II in Free Agency.

Nevertheless, it appears Damian Lillard isn't totally sold on signing a two-year extension worth $100 million just yet. He wants to see the Blazers make more moves around him to make them a team who can legitimately contend in the West.

Via The Athletic's Sam Amick:

While it has been widely assumed Lillard will accept the two-year extension offer worth more than $100 million that is expected to come his way, sources say the Trail Blazers still needed to have a strong offseason to persuade Lillard to sign on through the 2026-27 campaign (when he’ll be 36). The deadline here isn’t until the start of the regular season, and I’m being told this is not a sure thing just yet.

Dame is currently playing on a 4-year, $176 million contract that will expire in the summer of 2025. There have been numerous rumors over the last year that he could want out of Portland, but he continues to make it clear he's loyal to the Blazers as they look to turn the ship around.

Lillard signing that two-year extension by the time the regular season rolls around isn't absolutely crucial, but if the organization really wants it to happen, they must go out and sign more players to convince him to stay around past his mid-30s.
