The Portland Trail Blazers are coming off the heels of a disappointing four-game sweep in the first round of the playoffs against the New Orleans Pelicans. It has marked the second straight exit in the opening round by way of a sweep for the franchise.

This latest discouraging end to the Blazers' season could potentially put head coach Terry Stotts out of a job and on the open market. If Portland takes this route, Marc Stein of The New York Times is reporting that the Orlando Magic could be one of the team's interested in making him their next head coach.

Stotts has been at the helm of the Blazers for the last six seasons that includes a current streak of five-straight playoff appearances with two trips to the Western Conference semifinals. He has brought a tremendous amount of stability to the franchise by helping guide them to a .500 or better record in each of the last five years with a pair of Northwest division titles and 50-win seasons.

However, the Blazers could possibly see that a change of direction is needed to take the franchise to the next level with the talented roster that they have assembled. The team is led by one of the top backcourts in the league in All-Star point guard Damian Lillard and guard C.J. McCollum.

Meanwhile, the Magic have hit a rut since the departure of former All-Star center Dwight Howard with six-straight campaigns missing the playoffs. This includes losing at least 50 games five times and in each of the last two seasons, which led to the firing of head coach Frank Vogel.

Regardless if Portland fires or retains Stotts, it's clear that Orlando is looking to get another established head coach at the helm that could finally push the franchise forward. This is a situation to keep an eye on in the coming weeks as things could quickly heat up.
