Charles Barkley was finally reimbursed for the sacrifice he once made during his playing days, getting a cool $1,197 check from the Portland Trail Blazers via All-Star point guard Damian Lillard as a reimbursement for his travel to Rip City.

The former-player-turned-TNT-commentator previously explained how he once traveled to Portland to speak to the team's general manager during the summer to string together a potential trade that would land him with the Blazers.

“One summer, I flew to Portland on my own dime,” said Barkley during Thursday's TNT doubleheader. “The Portland Trail Blazers owe me $1,197. So I flew to the Portland one summer, I said ‘listen, y'all got a good team, but y'all can't play in the half court. You're not gonna win a championship unless you trade for me.' — I flew to Portland, spent a day with the Portland GM, and said ‘listen, these are the guys you can give up for me, because I need this guy, this guy, and this guy.”

“We sit there for three hours going over everything, and he says ‘Charles, I'll get back to you' and he calls me back the next day and he tells me ‘we're not gonna trade for you' and I was pissed.”

While the Loud Mound of Rebound got to test his chops as a financial front office asset for an opposing team, his investment on a two-way flight didn't yield any fruit.

“I flew to Portland on my own dime. The Trail Blazers have never paid me back,” he said. “I told them, they were not gonna win a championship.”

But Lillard made sure to clear the name of his organization, delivering a crisp $1,197 check after the 2018 All-Star Game to call it even.

Guess who was paying for the drinks after the broadcast was over?
