CJ McCollum just took out a page from Damian Lillard's playbook. The Portland Trail Blazers star scored 44 big points, including the go-ahead triple that put the team ahead of the Houston Rockets for good in overtime, 128-126.

Here's the big-time shot from McCollum:

The Blazers' win spoiled what was an equally monstrous night from James Harden. The Beard also ended the night with 44 points to go along with 17 assists, but he would have to carry the L on this one.

For what it's worth, DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall, Eric Gordon and Mason Jones all had to sit out for the Rockets due to COVID-19 protocols.

Harden has been under a lot of criticism in the past couple of weeks, with him receiving a $50,000 fine after images of him attending a private event without a mask surfaced and spread online.

Regardless of the situation in Houston, CJ McCollum's big performance propelled his Blazers to a 1-1 record on the season. His backcourt partner, Lillard, also had a terrific night with 32 points following a season opener to forget.

It is going to be exciting to see the Blazers compete this 2020-21, especially after an unforgettable stretch of games in the bubble. Having to compete with the Memphis Grizzlies and the determined Phoenix Suns, Portland just managed to earn the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Though losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, the NBA world saw an insane scoring display put on by Dame.

If the Blazers do not want to have to fight to get into the playoffs this season, they will have to depend on McCollum and Lillard to have big nights like Saturday's display on a consistent basis. of course, they will also need support from players such as Carmelo Anthony, Jusuf Nurkic and Robert Covington.
