The Toronto Blue Jays made a significant splash early on in MLB free agency, locking down ace Kevin Gausman on a five-year, $110 million deal. San Francisco Giants fans were disappointed to see Gausman depart the organization this offseason, with many wondering why the veteran right-hander wasn't interested in returning to The Bay in 2022. Well, Gausman made quite the revelation on Sunday when he took to Twitter and claimed the Giants never even offered him a contract.

Gausman adamantly denied any claims that he turned down a contract offer from the Giants, going as far as to allege that the team never even made him an offer before he decided to join the Blue Jays. Gausman declared that anyone suggesting otherwise was spreading fake news.
The Blue Jays and Gausman agreed to terms on the lucrative five-year deal back in early December. He had spent the previous two seasons with the Giants, playing on a one-year, $9 million deal in 2020. He returned to the organization in 2021 after accepting the qualifying offer from the Giants worth $18.9 million. His new deal with Toronto will see him earn an average of $22 million per season.
Gausman had been a solid starter throughout his career, but enjoyed a sensational two-year stint in The Bay that saw him post a 17-9 record across 43 starts. Gausman posted a 3.00 ERA with 306 strikeouts across 251.2 innings pitched over his two seasons with the Giants, including the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign.
The 31-year-old played a huge role in the Giants' successful 2021 campaign, leading many fans to expect him back in 2022. That didn't end up being the case, however, with Gausman alleging to have never even been offered the chance to stay with the Giants before latching on with the Blue Jays.
