Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been the talk of the MLB to open the 2022 campaign. The slugging infielder is fresh off of a terrific season that would have saw him win the AL MVP if Shohei Ohtani wasn't accomplishing things that had not been done since Babe Ruth. Nonetheless, Guerrero established himself as one of baseball's best players. He is seeing continued success this year and recently posted a 3 home run performance in a single game. With all of this being said, it really is not all that much of a surprise that there have been stirrings about a potential Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contract extension with the Blue Jays.

But Guerrero Jr. does not want to be the one to focus on any such extension.

“All I know is how to hit curveballs and fastballs. My thing is to do my job in the field, I don’t want to talk about contract because that’s why I have agents and that’s their jobs”

Vlad's comment's do not rule out contract discussions. Rather, his comments simply rule him out from being the one to discuss an extension with Toronto. He has his agents and he wants them do their job. And his mindset has worked just fine to open the new baseball season. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is slashing .289/.325/.711 with a 1.036 OPS and five home runs as of this story's publication.

He is going to get paid an absurd amount of money if a contract extension does not come fruition. For now, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will simply focus on hitting curveballs and fastballs.
