Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made franchise history on Monday when he launched his 40th home run of the season, becoming the youngest player to hit 40 dingers in a year.

Guerrero is just 22 years old and is already a superstar. He's one of the top AL MVP candidates and is leading the league in a number of hitting categories. After hitting this first-inning dinger, the Blue Jays star has 40 homers and 98 RBI on the season while boasting a slash line of .319/.410/.605.

In addition to this Blue Jays history, Guerrero and his dad are now the second father-son duo to hit 40 home runs in a season. The other? Cecil and Prince Fielder:

This is an extraordinary accomplishment for Guerrero at just 22 years old, and he has an incredible career ahead of him. Right now, though, he's trying to help Toronto get in the playoffs. The Blue Jays entered Monday's game against the New York Yankees 4.5 games back of the Yankees and four games back of the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wild Card chase. Toronto is also a game back of the Seattle Mariners, with the Oakland Athletics still in the mix as well despite a recent slump.
