Vladimir Tarasenko stepped up when it mattered in the St Louis Blues' 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. Tarasenko posted 3 goals en route a clutch hat trick which led the Blues to a crucial win. St Louis now leads the series with Minnesota 3-2.

Tarasenko reacted to his impressive Game 5 showing.

“It’s not the time to think about any achievements. The biggest thing is we won the game, and let's move onto the next one. At this point, from experience in 2019, we learned that only wins matter.”

Tarasenko had scored just once in the series prior to his hat trick.

Wild star Kirill Kaprizov played a quality game as well. However, he did not want to focus on his individual performance. Kaprizov shared his thoughts after losing to Vladimir Tarasenko and the Blues in Game 5.

“The goal isn’t for a player to play well. The goal is for the team to play well. We didn’t win. Ultimately that’s what we play for. We have a chance to make some changes to get the series back home for Game 7. That’s what we have to do.”

Blues goalie Jordan Binnington recorded 30 saves in the contest. His effort was not lost on St Louis coach Craig Berube.

“He got out so many pucks tonight and made real good plays with them. He’s a pretty calm, cool customer.”
