Bob Baffert has not made a good name for himself, especially lately. The news came out that Medina Spirit returned confirmation of a positive drug test after winning the Kentucky Derby. Now, Baffert is facing a serious penalty after the horse became just the second in the history of the race to be disqualified.

It's yet another bump in the road and another strike on the record for Baffert. Mandaloun has been declared the winner of the Kentucky Derby, and with this latest news, Baffert's career is in serious jeopardy.

His reputation has already been tarnished, primarily due to other incidents regarding positive tests, dating back to as recently as 2010. Baffert was slapped with a suspension after the Derby and the test was now confirmed.

However, Baffert remained true to the fact that he was innocent and doubled down after the initial suspension in early May.

“I got the biggest gut-punch in racing for something that I didn't do,” Baffert said.

Well, it turns out the test result was accurate and now Bob Baffert faces serious consequences and won't be back until 2023. This could very well be the end of Baffert's career in horse racing, and Medina Spirit is the first horse since the 1960s to be disqualified from the race.
