The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to climb back atop the NBA after a second-round playoff exit, losing to the eventual Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics. Despite failing to win back to back titles, Bucks forward Bobby Portis had a fantastic year. His play was rewarded on Thursday as Milwaukee has reportedly re-signed the Bucks power forward to a four-year, $49 million deal.

According to ESPN NBA Insider, Portis' agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed the contract details.

Portis is coming off of the best year of his pro career. He averaged a career-high 14.6 points per game. He also posted a career high in rebounds posting 9.1 boards per game. He shot 47.9 percent from the floor and an impressive 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.

But you could argue that his biggest asset as a player for the Bucks was the energy he brings to the team. Portis has been known for being the first guy to the floor and never backs down from a physical challenge. That goes all the way back to his days in college at Arkansas. He led the Razorbacks into a couple of extremely intense battles with Kentucky back when the Wildcats rarely ever lost a game.

His energy and intensity has made him a fan favorite among Bucks fans. You constantly hear “Bobby” chants throughout the Fiserv Forum.

On Thursday, the Bucks also signed Jevon Carter and Wesley Matthews to new deals. Milwaukee still has arguably the most dominant player in the NBA in Giannis Antetokounmpo. There would be nothing wrong with running it back next year. After all, they took the Celtics to seven games without Khris Middleton.
