Players enjoyed rampaging through the wild planet of Pandora in the many entries of the Borderlands franchise. This is why it didn't surprise fans when news broke out that development on a film adaptation started last year. Subsequently, big-name actors confirmed for roles in the film one by one. Stars such as Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and many others signed on to bring iconic Borderlands characters to life. Recently, fans got wind of the plot for the upcoming movie and it brewed into a storm of doubt and concern. The CEO behind the studio that developed Borderlands came out to set the story straight about the film.

THE BORDERLANDS MOVIE'S OWN PANDORA

Players and fans hope that film or TV adaptations stay true to the source material. Naturally, people expect adaptations of media they enjoy to remain faithful to the points that attracted their attention in the first place. This is why it's not surprising that a lot of fans of Borderlands raised concerns almost immediately after the plot of the movie made rounds online.

Unfortunately, adaptations rarely follow the source material 1-to-1. Works of fiction usually can't be adapted to a different medium because part of its charm gets lost in translation. However, it's an entirely different story if you completely forego the source material. The movie may not completely deviate from the games because the characters appear to be the same. However, key differences in the plot lead fans to doubt its development.

Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford felt it necessary to put out a statement regarding the film. He quickly disillusion fans hoping that the Borderlands film follows the story of the games. The responses from fans on the Tweet have been generally sarcastic in nature. Many pointed out that the different movie universe explains the odd casting choices.

The filmmakers promise alien monsters, dangerous bandits, and exciting combat but now, players might just enter the movie-watching experience with a little more doubt rather than excitement.
