The New York Knicks saw their season high two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night following a road loss against the Washington Wizards.

Even after scoring 47 points in the fourth quarter, it all went to waste as the Knicks played poorly in the first 36 minutes. After the game, Brandon Jennings talked about the lack of effort the team showed and was critical on them not playing harder on the road, where home teams tend to play better.

“We haven’t been locking in well on the road. That’s our big problem. If we want to be the team we think we are, we’re going to have to lock in better on the road. We got to play 10 times harder. Teams play better when they’re at home because they’re feeling good.

“We’re the Knicks. You have to know what’s across your chest. There’s a bigger bull’s-eye on it. Everybody wants to beat us. It’s a known national team. These are games we have to win. We should be disappointed. We can’t just put together two quarters or try to come back in the fourth.”

The Wizards have not been one of the stronger teams in the league so far this season and just came off a loss against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, which makes it harder for Jennings to accept their defeat. The 27-year-old also added that the Knicks need to pay more attention in the future to the gameplan mapped out by their head coach, Jeff Hornacek in order to win on the road.

“This is a team desperate for a win and they got one. They just lost to Philly [Wednesday] night. They come in and beat us. We need to be more desperate.”

“When coaches are doing the game plan, we got to listen. When the coach is writing the play, everybody’s got to pay attention. There’s a lot at stake for us.’’

Jennings hopes that his statements will serve as a wake-up call to his team and help them string a few wins together. With the talent and experience they have on the roster, plus the expectations the New York faithful have on their squad, it leaves the Knicks with no room for mediocrity this season.
