It’s no secret that Brandon Jennings is taking on a more active role as a leader off the bench for the New York Knicks.

The wily point guard has brought in a certain type of swagger that’s unforgiving, at times cocky, and he plays with an edge, hoping that this type of attitude rubs off on his teammates.

Jennings is also looking to play his part in getting everyone more involved, especially someone who is widely perceived as the franchise’s future, Kristaps Porzingis.

In an article by ESPN’s Ian Begley, Jennings talked about the need to feed the sophomore phenom out of Latvia more often.

“He’s a big factor on the offensive end. So we definitely have to get him the ball. He’s 7-3 that can score and can shoot it from long distance. So if you want an assist as a point guard, that’s one of the guys you gotta get the ball to.”

“I try to find him and get easy buckets for him as much possible. He’s a guy on this team that needs the ball and that has to score for us to be successful, so he’s a guy that I always look for.”

While Kristaps Porzingis has no problems finishing almost anywhere on the court, it is imperative that the ball gets to him, and Brandon Jennings will have to do a better job in finding him at the right spots because the stats aren’t looking pretty for the Jennings-Porzingis connection, as pointed out by Begley.

“Porzingis is shooting 7-for-19 on passes from Jennings thus far, including 2-for-7 from beyond the arc, per NBA.com tracking stats.”
