Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo are back! Surprisingly enough they will be facing each other for the third time in a row.

The two have been linked with other fights after facing off back in June but it appears this was the matchup that made the most sense for the UFC. Moreno won the last fight by submission.

The pair are to meet on December 11 at UFC 269. It will most likely be the co-main event as Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena.

The news was first reported by ESPN on Twitter. The news was met with a lot of surprise as many felt that Alexandre Pantojaor Askar Askarov should have been next in line.

Brandon Moreno originally challenged Deiveson Figueiredo for the flyweight title back in December 2020 with the pair fighting to a controversial draw. Figueiredo lost a point in the third round of the fight due to several groin strikes.

The rematch happened exactly six months later and Moreno looked like a different fighter. He dominated his opponent and finished with a rear-naked choke in the third round.

The trilogy will mark Moreno's first title defense and will start to usher in a different era at flyweight now that Joseph Benavidez has retired. The division used to be ruled by Demtrious Johnson, Henry Cejudo, and Benavidez.

It's unclear what would happen if Figueiredo wins. Do they fight for the fourth time?

UFC 269 is set to take place on December 11 and is still waiting for some more fights to be announced.
