Every year there are bound to be All-Star game snubs. These are players who are producing impressive numbers but fail to make the All-Star team. Sometimes, these snubs are valid and sometimes they are not. For example, a biased fan may feel as if their favorite player should make the team even though their numbers are lesser than a more deserving player. However, Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley was a clear snub from the NL All-Star team… until now.

Austin Riley was selected as a replacement for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game on Saturday, per Jon Heyman.

Riley emerged as a consistent power threat last season. The corner infielder was a vital piece to the Braves' 2021 World Series run. Following a slow start to the 2022 campaign, Riley has turned it up a notch and has his numbers looking elite. Riley is slashing .282/.345/.568 with 26 home runs and 60 RBI's.

But those numbers didn't land him on the 2022 MLB All-Star team originally.

Austin Riley will be replacing Cardinals' third baseman Nolan Arenado on the NL All-Star team, per Bob Nightengale. Arenado is dealing with lower back tightness and will miss the Midsummer Classic as a result.

Riley becomes the 6th Braves 2022 All-Star, joining Ronald Acuna Jr, Dansby Swanson, Max Fried, Travis d'Arnaud, and William Contreras. Atlanta's star-studded roster has propelled them back into contention following a slow start to the 2022 season. There is no question that Austin Riley has been a major part of their turnaround.

This is a well-deserved All-Star nod for the Braves third baseman.
