Blake Griffin will have pocketed $268,024,918 in NBA money when his current contract with the Detroit Pistons expires in the summer of 2022, per Spotrac.

The Los Angeles Clippers drafted Griffin with the first pick in the 2009 draft out of Oklahoma. However, the high-flyer missed his entire rookie season after undergoing knee surgery.

Griffin made $4,983,430 in 2009-10 while rehabbing his knee.

During his second season (though technically it was called his rookie year), Blake Griffin took the NBA by storm. He averaged 22.5 points and 12.1 rebounds and won the 2011 Rookie of the Year Award. Blake also won the Slam Dunk Contest after jumping over a car.

Griffin finished his rookie contract with the Clippers by making $4,612,820 in Year 3 and $7,226,892 in Year 4. The Clippers signed Griffin to a five-year, $94.5 million maximum rookie-scale extension before the 2012-13 season. The contract kicked in during the 2013-14 campaign, which was Griffin's fifth year in the league.

Blake Griffin made $16,441,500 in Year 5. He wrapped up his rookie-scale extension by earning $17,674,613, $18,907,725 and $20,140,838. The All-Star power forward was set to enter unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2017.

However, Blake didn't take any free-agent meetings because he wanted to play his entire career with the Clippers.

Los Angeles signed Griffin to a monster five-year, $171.2 million contract. It appeared that the Clippers were going to build around Blake in the post-Chris Paul era and pay him the big bucks.

However, multiple reports back in 2017 said the Clippers had second thoughts about Blake Griffin's contract just a few months after giving it to him. Los Angeles wound up shocking the NBA world by trading Griffin to the Pistons in January of 2018.

During the 2017-18 season, Griffin got $12,005,247 from the Pistons and $18,367,653 from the Clippers. The future Hall of Famer also received an $860,000 trade kicker.

In 2018-19, Blake Griffin made $32,088,932 and was a superstar on the court in his first full season with the Pistons. He averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 boards and 5.4 assists per game and made the All-Star team and All-NBA third team.

However, Griffin pushed his body too hard and injured his left knee. He underwent surgery after the 2019 playoffs and missed the first 10 games of the 2019-20 season.

Once Blake returned from his surgery, he was a shell of himself. The former Rookie of the Year made his knee worse somehow and needed yet another surgery.

Griffin was set to make $34,449,964 in 2019-20 before games were suspended due to COVID-19.

Moving forward, Blake Griffin is owed $36.6 million in 2020-21. He has a player option worth $38,957,028 for the 2021-22 season.
