Paul George came out of Team USA‘s exhibition matchup against China last Tuesday in Oakland with a left calf strain. He was held out of the second-to-last exhibition game against Venezuela on Friday and is now also being held out of Monday's matchup and exhibition finale against Nigeria.

George injured the game early in the second half of Team USA's game against China, and he's going to be held out as a precaution until Team USA's Olympic opener on Saturday against, ironically, China.

As a matter of fact, exactly two years ago today on August 1, 2014, George suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in professional basketball history when he broke his right leg by hitting the basket stanchion. It was a long road back for George, and it's a good thing he's sitting out to rest, recover, and be 100% ready for the Olympics.

Kyrie Irving will also be sitting out with a left thigh bruise he sustained after colliding with an opposing player while trying to fight over a screen.
