Christian Yelich has been playing at an MVP caliber level once again this season for the Milwaukee Brewers, but unfortunately he will be ending his season early. According to an official release from the Brewers on Twitter, Yelich will miss the remainder of the season due to a fractured kneecap.

This is a massive blow to the Brewers' playoffs hopes, as they are in the middle of a race for the National League Wild Card. They are currently behind the Chicago Cubs by a couple of games. Losing their star and face of their franchise is going to be a massive setback.

Prior to this injury, Yelich had played in 129 games for the Brewers. In those appearances, he had compiled a .330 batting average to go along with 44 home runs and 97 RBI's. Those numbers show just how much of an impact Yelich was having for his franchise.

Yelich is the second major injury to rock the NL Central in the last week. Reports broke that Cubs' slugger Javier Baez would likely miss the rest of the regular season due to a fractured finger. Both the Brewers and Cubs are going to have a rough time pulling through these major injuries.

All of that being said, the Brewers will be hoping to see Yelich recover quickly and fully from this injury. A fractured kneecap isn't the worst injury ever, but anything with the knee is always a concern.
