The Milwaukee Brewers designated 2-time All-Star Lorenzo Cain for assignment on Saturday. Cain has suffered through a brutal 2022 season and his MLB future is in question. Nonetheless, he played a big role for the Brewers over the past few seasons. Additionally, Cain is known as an excellent teammate and clubhouse presence. Brewers star Christian Yelich shared a hilarious Lorenzo Cain story following the DFA announcement.

“There is a lot of Lo (Lorenzo Cain) stories that you will probably miss,” Yelich said. “A few years removed from now there aren't going to be a whole lot of guys that really remember him 'cause there is so much turnover in this game. That's one of them. Him taking 45 seconds to get to and from centerfield, and then making a sprinting catch at the wall. Walk slow run fast, that's kind of his motto.”

Yelich continued by reflecting on Cain.

“He's just funny in the clubhouse, he's just a good guy, a good teammate. We will definitely miss him. We will always have those stories to remember.”

Lorenzo Cain accrued 10 years of MLB service time on Saturday, which happened to be the same day he was DFA's by the Brewers. Yelich responded to Cain reaching 10 years of big league service as well.

“To make it 10 years in the big leagues you have to be a really good player. It's not an accident. You don't make it 10 years because you are a good guy, because you're a good teammate, it's cuz you're a really good player.”

Cain will certainly be missed by Christian Yelich and the Brewers.
