The Milwaukee Brewers are in a dog race with the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League Central crown. Entering play Sunday, both St. Louis and Milwaukee were tied atop the division at 41-33. The rest of the division is a dumpster fire, with Pittsburgh in third place, 13 games under .500.

On Sunday, the Brewers jumped all over the Toronto Blue Jays. In particular, Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez did damage that no Milwaukee player had accomplished in 40 years.

Tellez hit two home runs and drove in four runs in the first two innings off of Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios. Hall of Famer Robin Yount was the last player for the Brewers to accomplish that feat. Tellez did it against his former club that he spent the first four years of his career with before joining the Brewers.

The Brewers went on to win 10-3 to take a half-game lead over the Cardinals.

Tellez is having a solid year for Milwaukee. He is up to 13 home runs and 45 RBI. The 13 home runs trail only Willy Adames (15) on the team and he leads the team in RBI.

Milwaukee is getting good news on a number of fronts. Brandon Woodruff is slated to make his long waited return to the Brewers rotation Tuesday. That should be a huge boost for Milwaukee as Woodruff was among the candidates for the National League Cy Young Award last season.

Woodruff struggled for much of the year this year before being placed on the 15-day IL with an ankle injury.
