NZ vs ENG, Lord's. It's a new beginning for the England cricket. The Stokes-McCullum era is ready start with taking on New Zealand. English team is at the bottom of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 table, while NZ is at number three.
The last year, on the same day, NZ played ENG at Lord's and resulted in a drawn match. Devon Conway reached on to the Honors Board of the Lord's with a double-century.
There are lots of changes in the England squad. Major shuffle can be noticed in the batting order of the players. ENG removed Dom Sibley, Rory Burns, and Hameed from top three positions and replaced them with Alex Lees, Zack Crawley, and Ollie Pope. Jonny Bairstow is also likey to get promoted up in the batting order. Most likely above Ben Stokes in the order.
Ollie Pope at number 3 position will be a game changing decision for England. Pope may become Mr. Dependable like Marnus Labuschagne is for Australia. He has solid technique and likes to play fast bowlers.
The Pitch:
Short grass was seen on the pitches prepared for the first Test, but not too long to support heavy swing. London is expecting rain in upcoming days, but the Test match should be played uninterruptedly.
NZ vs ENG at Lords:
NZ last won a Test match at Lord's in the year 1999.
