The Denver Broncos recently pulled the trigger on a franchise-altering move that helped them land QB Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a bevy of assets. Finally getting a legitimate starting quarterback at the helm, the Broncos must continue to find ways to improve by filling in the remaining holes on their roster for 2022.

Currently, they are in good shape to make significant moves as they have around $26 million in cap space available, per Spotrac. If they are able to bring in quality reinforcements on both sides of the ball to help out Wilson then the Broncos will definitely be in a good position to compete next season.

With that said, let's take a look at two players that the revamped Broncos can target in the upcoming NFL free agency.

Denver Broncos Free Agency Targets

2. Morgan Moses

The Broncos' offensive line was able to put up respectable outings in the 2021 season but the unit still has room for improvement moving forward. Luckily for them, both of their RBs in Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams were able to atone for the line's shortcomings in terms of providing sufficient run-blocking on the field.

In fact, the right tackle position, which is being manned by Bobby Massie, remains to be one of the holes that should be addressed within the group as of the moment. The Broncos can target veteran lineman Morgan Moses from the New York Jets. He has proven his durability as he has missed little to no action on the field ever since his sophomore year in the league dating back to 2015.

Aside from his ability to stay on the field, Moses has always been known to be a potent pass protector and run blocker during his time with the Washington Commanders. If he finds his way to Denver then he will also be reunited with a familiar face in new tight ends coach Jake Moreland who previously served as one of the assistant offensive line coaches for the Jets last season.

Now that Russell Wilson is set to play under center, it is highly important for the Broncos to invest in a lineman with Morgan Moses shaping up to be a viable option for them in the offseason.

1. J.C. Jackson

Another position of need for the Broncos heading to 2022 would be the cornerback unit. A handful of their veterans in Kareem Jackson, Kyle Fuller, and Bryce Callahan are all set to enter free agency in the near future. This leaves them with youngsters in Patrick Surtain II, Ronald Darby, and Justin Simmons to headline their secondary defense.

Yes, they can still opt to retain the services of their pending free agents but it would also be important for the Broncos to infuse greater pieces of talent in a position that will play a crucial role for them next season. A player that they can target is J.C. Jackson from the New England Patriots who recently failed to get franchise-tagged by the team.

After Stephon Gilmore left Foxborough, it was the Florida native who stepped up and filled in the void as CB1 for the Patriots last season. He produced 58 combined tackles, eight interceptions, and a career-best 23 passes defended in 17 appearances in 2021. At 26 years old, Jackson already has a Super Bowl title under his belt and recently earned the first Pro Bowl nod of his young career.

It wouldn't be cheap to acquire him but the Jackson-Surtain pairing can surely be intriguing, especially for a team that will be playing in a stacked AFC West division next season. If the Broncos get to add a talent like J.C. Jackson at the helm then it will surely be a huge boost in elevating the performance of their secondary defense moving forward.
