The Denver Broncos had a disappointing 2019 season, but there was some hope near its end with the play of rookie quarterback Drew Lock. He won four of his five starts to close out the year and now there is increased optimism that this will be the year they get back into the playoffs.

Even with the expectations, Denver needs to perform on the field and get more wins. So what could happen? Let's break down three bold predictions for the Broncos' 2020 NFL season.

Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon both rush for 800 yards

Melvin Gordon was quite the 1-2 punch with Austin Ekeler with the Los Angeles Chargers, and now he will have the same role as Phillip Lindsay after the Broncos picked him up in free agency. Last season Lindsay rushed for over 1,000 yards and Gordon rushed for 612 yards even though he didn't play a full season.

There hasn't been any clear indication about what the running back rotation is going to be, but there is no reason that both Gordon and Lindsay shouldn't both play a key part in Denver's offense this season.

Lindsay and Gordon should both find a lot of success, and 800 rushing yards should be a minimum estimate for both backs.

Drew Lock finishes top six in MVP Voting

There is a lot of buzz surrounding quarterback Drew Lock after his finish to the 2019 season and his play seemed to be no fluke. The Broncos have surrounded him with talent and he is going to have a big year. Playing Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs twice a year is going to be key and he will have success in both of the games.

MVP Voters are going to remember how much success he will have in those games, and that will raise his profile. Look for Lock to have a big year, and finish in the top six in Most Valuable Player voting.

Beat the Chiefs at least once

As hinted at above, the Broncos are going to get the best of the Chiefs at least once in the upcoming season and if they don't win both, are going keep things close in a loss.

The Broncos offense is much improved with Lock under center and Pat Shurmur calling the plays. It's looking likely to be a shootouts, but Lock, Lindsay, and Gordon are going to lead the team to victory one, if not two, times.

Don't be shocked if the AFC West also goes down to the last week of the season, making it possible for the Broncos to come out on top in the division.
