The Denver Broncos have added a new piece to their offensive unit after agreeing to a trade with the Arizona Cardinals that landed them a new offensive tackle in Jared Veldheer, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Cardinals announced they are trading OT Jared Veldheer to the Broncos in exchange for Denver’s sixth-round draft pick (#182) in 2018 NFL Draft.

This means that Veldheer is going to play for his third team since he entered the league via the 2010 NFL Draft. The 30-year-old Veldheer was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of that draft. He played center for one game for the Raiders before settling as the team’s starting left tackle. In four seasons with the Raiders, Jared Veldheer played 53 games with 48 starts.

In 2014, Veldheer signed a five-year deal worth $35 million with the Cardinals. In four seasons in Arizona threads, Veldheer played 53 games, all via starts. He played in only 13 games in 2017 after getting placed on the injured reserved in December because of an ankle injury, but still managed to play in 79.93 percent of offensive snaps, serving varying roles as the team’s left tackle, right tackle, and right guard.

In Denver, Veldheer is expected to line up across left tackle Garrett Bolles in a Broncos offensive line unit that ranked 29th in pass protection in DVOA in 2017, and did not do very well in the run blocking department. Denver allowed 52 sacks last season, tied for third in the NFL.

As for the Cardinals, they now have two picks in the sixth round.
