Denver Broncos cornerback AJ Bouye dislocated his shoulder during the 16-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL season opener. It appears he is now slated to miss some time.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Broncos will likely place Bouye on injured reserve for the next three weeks while he recovers:

The Broncos have been bitten by the injury bug with a number of key players sidelined to begin the season. Linebacker Von Miller remains out while wide receivers Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler were unable to take part in Week 1. Now the loss of Bouye and running back Phillip Lindsay for the next few weeks will certainly leave them with some major voids to fill.

Now that Bouye is out, Denver will now turn to rookie cornerbacks Michael Ojemudia and Essang Bassey to help fill the void. They had already been tasked with making their pro debuts on primetime against Tennessee following a truncated offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Things will not get any easier when they hit the road to take on a revamped Pittsburgh Steelers offense with Ben Roethlisberger back under center.

The Broncos acquired Bouye in exchange of for a fourth-round pick this offseason and was slated to provide them with plenty of bang for their buck as a stabilizing factor in the secondary. Although the timing of his recent setback was hardly ideal, the team can take solace in the fact that the injury is not deemed to be too serious.
