It was an eventful first day in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Denver Broncos managed to make a splash of their own by taking NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick.

No one was more excited about Denver's selection than linebacker Von Miller. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the feeling is mutual for Chubb:

“I feel like he’s one of the best,” Chubb said. “Being a rookie coming in there, I feel like it’ll be good to go in there and start something on your own. But for me, coming in there and watching what he does and seeing his routine, seeing how he operates and seeing what made him so good, I feel like that’s going to help me and take my game to a whole other level than me just going into a situation who had the guy right now. I’m glad I have this experience and I’m going to take full advantage of it for sure.”

It goes without saying that there is plenty to be excited about for both players. Miller has long been the gold standard for pass-rushers in the league. That said, learning from a six-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl MVP should pay huge dividends for Chubb's development. Meanwhile, Miller is relishing the fact that the defense now has another formidable edge rusher to compliment him.

There was speculation that Denver was potentially looking to take one of the many top quarterback prospects in this year's draft. However, it seems they are confident in their signing of Case Keenum to hold down the fort while backup Paxton Lynch continues to develop. Furthermore, Denver was able to address a serious need with the addition of the top-rated defensive player in the draft.
