With the NFL's trade deadline looming, Denver Broncos veteran cornerback Chris Harris responded to rumors that he could be the next one on a direct flight out of the Mile High City.

Per The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala on Twitter:

“I have a baby coming in a couple days, so I want to be here for my baby,” Harris said. “I definitely want to continue to pay here. I have no issues here . . . . But it’s up to them upstairs, I can’t really control it.”

The Broncos previously traded 32-year-old two-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders last week to the undefeated NFC West club San Francisco 49ers. Sanders, a Super Bowl champion with the Broncos, scored a touchdown on his first drive as a Niner.

Harris, 30, has spent the entirety of his nine-year tenure with Denver, having signed with the franchise after going undrafted in 2011. His fierce, competitive nature in the secondary has led to four Pro-Bowl appearances, an All-Pro selection, and of course his participation in the 2015 season's Super Bowl victory.

Harris has been present for all eight games this season thus far in the Broncos' paltry 2-6 first half of the 2019 venture. He has one interception this year and 20 picks in his career with Denver.

Plenty of frustration for a poor Broncos season has been weighted on the shoulders of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, the 34-year-old signal-caller and former Super Bowl MVP with the Baltimore Ravens acquired in the offseason via trade. Outside of the offense going nowhere, though, Harris appears to want to stay with the Broncos and man the defense's secondary.
