Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris is entering the final year of his contract, so he knows this is an opportunity for him to earn a big payday, if not with the Broncos, then with someone else.

As a result, Harris is laser focused heading into 2019.

“I feel like this year I have even more of a chip on my shoulder,” Harris said, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic. “If you’re not motivated in this league, I don’t know what kind of player you are. I don’t know if I want to play with you.”

Harris was holding out for much of Denver's offseason program in hopes of getting a new deal, and while he wasn't able to land a long-term contract, he did receive a raise for the 2019 campaign, which cleared the path for him to join his team.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kansas, went undrafted, but eventually saw his first NFL action with the Broncos in 2011, playing in all 16 games and totaling 75 tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery and six passes defended.

Harris would then go on to become one of the most consistent members of the Broncos secondary, and by 2014, he was a Pro Bowler after registering 58 tackles, a sack, three picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 17 passes defended.

The Bixby, Ok. native has made four Pro Bowl appearances overall, including this past season when he appeared in 12 contests and tallied 49 tackles, a sack, three interceptions, 10 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.
