Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris wasn't traded before Tuesday's trade deadline and it's something he is excited about. Harris said that he is excited to not have to worry about being moved, and now he wants to focus on trying to pick up more wins.

“I’m definitely happy,” Harris said in a phone interview Tuesday with 9News, minutes after the 2 p.m. deadline had passed. “Now, I can just play and get this behind me and focus on finishing strong the rest of the year. Try and get some wins.”

Harris also now gets to stay at home with his family. Harris and his wife Leah are expecting a daughter any day now and getting uprooted right now could have caused a lot of stress on the family.

“I have a baby coming in a couple days so I want to be here for my baby,” Harris said. “I definitely want to continue to play here. I have no issues here. (Head coach Vic) Fangio and Ed Donatell, I’ve had great working relationships with them. We work great together. But it’s up to them upstairs. I can’t really control it. I know what type of player I am. I’m not slowing down, regardless of what people say. I feel great.”

The Detroit Lions made an offer for Harris but it wasn't enough for the team to decide to pull the trigger on move on from him. Harris is a free agent this offseason and should be in line for a big contract.

If he does get that contract with another team, the Broncos should receive a third-round compensatory draft pick in 2021.

There is always a chance the Broncos could offer him a contract, but right now it seems that this will be his last season in Denver.
