Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton gave the team some cause for concern after injuring his shoulder during practice on Thursday.

However, Sutton merely suffered a sprained AC joint, and will be day-to-day ahead of the team's Week 1 opener against the Tennessee Titans on Monday (via Adam Schefter of ESPN and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport).

The extra day of rest certainly helps Sutton's chances of playing. He might have garnered a “doubtful” designation had the Broncos been slated to play on Sunday, but will have some added time to heal up before the showdown with the Titans.

Sutton emerged as one of the top receivers in the league in 2019. The former SMU standout was named to the Pro Bowl after amassing 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns.

Denver is hoping the leap from his sensational sophomore campaign to Year 3 is even bigger, especially considering the weapons the Broncos added this offseason.

General manager John Elway placed a clear emphasis on improving the receiving corps during the draft this past April, selecting former Alabama star Jerry Jeudy and following up with Penn State speedster KJ Hamler in the second round. Jeudy figures to line up out wide opposite Sutton, with Hamler operating out of the slot.

Elway also signed free agent running back Melvin Gordon, who will compete with Phillip Lindsay for carries in Denver's backfield.

The Broncos have surrounded second-year quarterback Drew Lock with a plethora of weapons, but Sutton is still the No. 1 guy in the Mile High City.

Denver will hope Sutton can recover in time for Monday's game.
