Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton suffered a rib injury during a lifting session on Thursday, according to Mike Klis of 9 News.

Sutton did not practice on Thursday, although he is fortunately expected to be good to go for the Broncos' Week 3 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Sutton being out is one of the last things Denver needs right now.

The Broncos' offense has been struggling enough as it is, as it has logged just 30 points over the first two games of the season, both losses.

Sutton has been one of Denver's top two wide receivers along with Emmanuel Sanders thus far, catching 11 passes for 160 yards, including a seven-catch, 120-yard performance in a Week 1 loss to the Oakland Raiders.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Southern Methodist University, was originally selected by the Broncos in the second round (40th pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He went on to have an impressive rookie campaign, playing in all 16 games and hauling in 42 receptions for 704 yards and four touchdowns.

Sutton spent four years at Southern Methodist, arriving at the school in 2014 and becoming a productive piece of the offense in his sophomore season when he snared 49 balls for 862 yards and nine scores.

He then broke out during his junior year, registering 76 catches for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns before capping off his NCAA career by catching 68 passes for 1,085 yards while reaching the end zone 12 times in his senior campaign.

The Broncos won just six games in 2018, marking the first time they posted back-to-back losing seasons since 1972.
