Wide receiver Amari Cooper won’t be on the field for the Oakland Raiders this coming Sunday, no thanks to a concussion and ankle injury he sustained back in Week 12’s 21-14 win over the Denver Broncos.

Cooper left the Broncos game in the first half and didn’t return, and he would need more than a week to recover from the said injuries, which the Alabama product got when Denver safety Darian Stewart laid an illegal hit on him. While Stewart won’t be suspended for that, the NFL has levied a hefty $24,309 fine on him, Mike Klis of 9News.com has reported.

The comments from Jack Del Rio that Klis alluded to were said right after the Denver game, when the Raiders head coach described Stewart’s hit was “vicious” and the type that the NFL is trying to eliminate from the sport, per Scott Bair of NBC Sports.

Losing Cooper will definitely impact the Raiders’ offense, especially with the team’s top wide receiver, Michael Crabtree, also out this Sunday against the New York Giants to serve a one-game suspension due to his fight with Denver cornerback Aqib Talib last week.

With both receivers on the sidelines, Cordarelle Patterson, Seth Roberts, and Johnny Holton are all expected to see increased involvement on the Raiders’ passing attack that ranks 14th in the league with 237.5 passing yards per game.
