The Denver Broncos have made some serious changes to their personnel this NFL offseason. It seems their approach has carried over into the front office as well.

The phrase, “Trust the Process,” has become a way of life for fans of the Philadelphia 76ers. However, it is one that could very well soon be followed by Broncos fans as well.

According to The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala, Denver has brought in former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie as a consultant. Director of football analytics Mitch Tanney commented on the decision to bring Hinkie in.

“It's a wealth of data, and it's our job to extract insights with coordination with the strength and conditioning staff, athletic training, with the rehab group in there to be able to make sure it makes sense. Again, it's that pragmatic part. If we just do some one-off research that doesn't make any sense, that doesn't do anybody any good. It needs to be applicable.”

It is encouraging to see that Denver is looking to think outside the box in the hopes of creating a team capable of contending for a Super Bowl every year. Needless to say, Hinkie's methods are a bit unorthodox. Nonetheless, they are proving to be effective given Philadelphia's success in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Despite enduring one of the worst periods of basketball for any team, Hinkie was the driving force behind bringing in the abundance of talent they have now. His tanking was responsible for the team being in a position to select star players like point guard Ben Simmons and center Joel Embiid. Unfortunately, he was not able to stick around long enough to see his plan come to fruition after a 47-195 record as general manager.
