The Denver Broncos expect outside linebacker Bradley Chubb to be available for OTAs. Chubb suffered a torn ACL in September against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Per Ryan O' Halloran of The Denver Post:
Chubb was the fifth overall pick in the 2018 draft and had a phenomenal rookie season with the Broncos. He finished with 60 combined tackles and 12 sacks, which was the second-highest on the team that year. He set the Broncos rookie sack record in 2018 with his 12 sacks.
Unfortunately, he only played four weeks into the 2019 season because of the season-ending ACL injury. In four games, Chubb recorded 21 tackles, one sack, one defended pass, one forced fumble. He was arguably the Broncos' best defensive player before he went down with his injury.
OTAs are set to begin in May, which would be eight months from the time Chubb tore his ACL.
The Broncos will certainly need Chubb to be ready for the 2020 season if they want to compete for a playoff spot. Last season, the Broncos defense allowed an average of 337.0 total yards, which was ranked twelve in the league. They allowed 19.8 points per game, which was ranked tenth in the league.
Their defense was exceptional without Chubb in the lineup, however, they'll be outstanding when he comes back from his injury,
“Really good (progress),” Elway said. “He looks great. I (jokingly) asked with about five weeks left in the season if he was ready to go. He should be ready to go for OTAs (in May) or even the offseason program (in April).”
