The Denver Broncos have a big decision to make this offseason on the quarterback position. Denver has a solid team in place, particularly on offense, though they are in need of a change under center, as neither Teddy Bridgewater nor Drew Lock seems to be the long-term answer. Broncos GM George Paton has a wide array of options, as the Broncos possess the no. 9 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft but are also armed with plenty of cap space to make a splash in free agency. Paton seemingly tipped his hand on his QB plans while breaking down the 2022 NFL Draft, via NBC Sports.

“If we don’t think the draft class is very good, we’re probably going to try to go heavy into free agency or the trade market. But I think there’s some talented guys in this rookie class, so we’ll weigh that as we will other positions. What are the strengths of free agency compared to the draft, and if the draft isn’t strong at a certain position, we’re going to be very aggressive in free agency.”

Broncos GM George Paton didn't explicitly commit to any QB plan, though it sure sounds like the team plans on seriously weighing 2022 NFL Draft prospects such as Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis.

Broncos fans might not be too thrilled to hear that their GM Paton feels that the 2022 NFL Draft class of quarterbacks features some “talented guys”, especially considering how many have considered it a weaker class of signal-callers.

While many Broncos fans want the GM to make a free agent splash at quarterback, it might make sense for the team to draft a quarterback and then allocate free agent resources to improving the team around the young signal-caller on a rookie deal.

Nothing is set in stone, but Broncos GM George Paton may have tipped his QB plans with these 2022 NFL Draft comments.
