The Denver Broncos had an injury scare during the first quarter of their Week 12 home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

After dropping back to pass on a critical first down play, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater took on a hard hit from Chargers safety Derwin James.

The Broncos elected to rule out Bridgewater for the remainder of the first half due to a right shin injury suffered during the play, as backup quarterback Drew Lock then entered the game in relief. Lock threw one interception and posted a 25.6 passer rating during his time on the field.

To the surprise of many, Bridgewater made his return to action in the third quarter. He went on to clinch the divisional win over the Chargers thanks to a pivotal touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, where he connected with tight end Eric Saubert for a 1-yard score.

After the game, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio lauded his quarterback for fighting through the injury.

“He toughed it out,” Fangio said.”He was nowhere near 100 percent.”

This win for the Broncos moves them over the .500 mark. Even as Bridgewater faced an injury in the game, the final score is all that matters to him.

“When you win, it doesn't really matter what you're going through,” Bridgewater said. “You feel good. … We'll see how I'm feeling in the morning.”

The Broncos sit at last place in the AFC West standings but are a mere one game back of the current first place Kansas City Chiefs.
