The quarterback battle for the Denver Broncos has finally reached a conclusion. On Wednesday, via the team Twitter account, Teddy Bridgewater was named the starter over Drew Lock.

Bridgewater showed out for the Broncos in his start against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the preseason. The now QB1 went 9 of 11 for 105 yards and a touchdown pass. Bridgewater looked smooth in making his reads and moving the Denver offense down the field.

Lock was the starter for much of the season last year in Denver but struggled to take care of the ball. He has the higher ceiling and there might still be untapped potential with him, but the Broncos opted to go with the veteran Bridgewater.

Teddy came over from the Carolina Panthers in the offseason. He had a pretty vanilla season with the Panthers despite having some solid weapons to throw to like Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore.

At one point this offseason, the Broncos front office appeared to have set their goals super high on trying to pry Aaron Rodgers away from the Green Bay Packers. That dream died when Rodgers returned to the Packers for the 2021 season. Now, they’ll roll with Bridgewater.

The AFC West looks to be super strong and with quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert holding down the fort in Kansas City and Los Angeles, respectively, there will be some added pressure for Bridgewater to keep the Broncos within shouting distance this year.
