The Denver Broncos had a pivotal chance to move up in the AFC playoff picture in Week 16 but failed to do so due to their road loss against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The woes on offense marred the Broncos’ overall performance on the day. Third-year quarterback Drew Lock guided the offense to a mere one touchdown drive. However, he did not receive much help along the way due to several key drops from his wideout unit, including Jerry Jeudy.

In his post-game press conference, Lock was asked on just what it meant to come away from this contest with a loss considering that the Los Angeles Chargers, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers all suffered defeats in Week 16 as well. The former Missouri Tigers star noted that his team failed to take full advantage of such a golden opportunity.

“It definitely hurts,” Lock said. “It was in our hands today and we didn’t take advantage of it.”

The Broncos now sit at the No. 13 seed in the AFC, while the Raiders hold the No. 9 seed and are still much alive for a wild-card spot.

Lock and the Broncos have not yet been eliminated from playoff contention, but they at the least now face a must-win contest against the Chargers in Week 17. It remains to be seen whether Lock will earn a start for this game, or if Teddy Bridgewater may make his return to action after missing Week 16 due to a concussion suffered last week.
