While teams across the NFL continue to prepare for training camp, we'll continue to see roster moves being made. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos have released tight end Jeff Heuerman.

Heuerman began his career as a third-round pick of the Broncos in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, coming out of Ohio State, Heuerman wouldn't make his debut with Denver until the 2016 season.

In his first two seasons that he was able to play in, the former Buckeye combined for 18 receptions for 283 yards and two touchdowns. Then, in his third year in the NFL, Heuerman would put together the best year of his five-year career. Back in 2018, Heuerman caught a career-best 31 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos.

But with the selection of Noah Fant early in the 2019 NFL Draft, Heuerman's role with the Broncos was mitigated. As a result, the veteran pass-catcher recorded only 14 receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown last season.

As the Broncos gear up for training camp, the Broncos appear to be suddenly crowded at the tight end position. Besides Fant, Denver signed Nick Vannett and drafted Albert Okwuegbunam this offseason.

Also, it's important to note that Jake Butt is still on the roster. Butt was a fifth-round pick for the Broncos in 2017 out of Michigan. Sadly, the former Wolverine has been unable to remain healthy in his first three years in Denver.

Given the depth at the tight end position, Heuerman became an expendable piece for the Broncos ahead of the 2020 season. With that being said, it wouldn't come as a surprise if Heuerman finds a new place to call home before the season begins.
