The Denver Broncos are waiving 26-year-old kicker Taylor Bertolet, per ESPN's Ian Rapoport.

The move will undoubtedly position five-year pro Brandon McManus as the AFC West team's starting kicker this upcoming 2019 season.

Bertolet, a 5-foot-9 placekicker, went undrafted in 2016 and signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He was subsequently waived prior to the start of the season and bounced around a few teams including the New York Jets, the AAF's Salt Lake Stallions, and a brief stint with the Broncos. Denver signed the free-agent kicker out of Texas A&M again at the end of April of this year before waiving him on Tuesday.

McManus is a 27-year-old placekicker who has won a Super Bowl with the team three years ago. The 6-foot-3 Temple product went undrafted in 2013 and went through several teams before permanently landing with Denver after a trade with the New York Giants sent McManus as then-injured Matt Prater's temporary replacement.

McManus would be waived in November of 2014 before being immediately re-signed by the Broncos following clearing waivers. In his first “full-time” gig as the Broncos kicker, McManus hit 85.7 percent of his field goals attempts and 97.2 percent of his extra-point attempts.

The Broncos re-signed McManus in September of 2017 to a three-year extension. He was instrumental in the Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers, nailing his three field-goal attempts and an extra point. McManus set a Broncos franchise record with 10 postseason field goals that year.
