The Denver Broncos ran out of cards to deal with after four of their listed quarterbacks will be out for their Week 12 encounter against the New Orleans Saints due to COVID-19 related concerns.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team attempted to slot in assistant coach Rob Calabrese who is currently serving as their offensive quality control coach for the past two years, to be their starting QB in the game.

Although unimaginable, the team claimed that they felt Calabrese could run their offensive system better than anybody. Their request was eventually denied by the league commissioner Roger Goodell on Saturday. The league didn't want teams to sneak in potential replacement players within the coaching staff which could eventually pose loopholes moving forward.

Another request from the team was denied when the Broncos asked for their Sunday game to be postponed to Tuesday due to their depleted roster, especially at the quarterback position.

To cope with the circumstances, the Broncos eventually found a replacement playmaker in Kendall Hilton who is a wide receiver in the team's practice squad. He reportedly had an experience of playing in the quarterback position during his time with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons dating back to his collegiate days.

The Broncos will have to take the gridiron with everyone available at their disposal despite the gaping holes on their roster. Pulling off a win in Week 12 won't be easy for Mile High as they are facing a New Orleans Saints squad who is currently holding a seven-game winning streak heading into the game.
