There's been a revolving door of quarterbacks in Denver since the Broncos won the Super Bowl with Peyton Manning under center. They went from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time to Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch, Brock Osweiler, and Case Keenum.

On Feb. 13, the organization announced that they had traded for former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, but Mr. “Elite” may have some competition by the time the season begins. According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Broncos have scheduled a workout with Northwestern’s Clayton Thorson.

Thorson took over for Siemian at Northwestern and is a four-year starter and projects to be a mid-to-late round draft selection. With Flacco 0n the roster, Denver could be opposed to using a high pick on a quarterback, but has already scheduled on-site visits with both Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins and Missouri’s Drew Lock.

Thorson has the size that general manager and president of football operations John Elway likes. At the Combine, scouts measured Thorson at 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds and his hands measured in at 9-3/4 inches.

He was thrown to the wolves early on in his college career, as he started all 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2015, and his breakout campaign came the following year. He passed for 3,182 yards, 22 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, but unfortunately, he never was able to duplicate the numbers he put up as a sophomore, which has since hurt his draft stock.

Denver holds the 10th overall pick in the draft, and will have to decide how much to invest in a young quarterback this year.

“We’re still in the process of studying them,” Elway said of this year's QB class at the Combine. “We’ll keep looking at them. I think that there are a lot of people excited about next year’s class. But we’re going to spend the time on this year’s class and see where we come out on that. I think there’s some good players in this draft too.”
