Apparently, the Denver Broncos will be letting defensive lineman Derek Wolfe hit free agency.

During an interview on KOA Radio on Tuesday, Wolfe said that the Broncos talked to his agent at the Scouting Combine and told him that they will allow Wolfe to explore the market.

“[The Broncos] talked to my agent at the Combine,” said Wolfe, via Andrew Mason of DNVR Sports. “It looks like they’re going to let me hit free agency, see what the market is. It’s a nice way of saying, ‘We like you; we love you, but not for that kind of money.’”

So, yeah; it's looking like Denver and Wolfe may be heading for a parting of ways.

Wolfe was limited to just 12 games this past season due to a dislocated elbow he suffered late in the year. When he was on the field, he was productive, registering 34 tackles, seven sacks and a forced fumble.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was originally selected by the Broncos in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie campaign, finishing with 40 tackles an six sacks.

Since then, Wolfe has been a consistently productive member of Denver's defense when healthy, helping lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl title during the 2015-16 campaign.

However, the Lisbon, Oh. native has somewhat of a checkered injury history, as he has tallied just three full 16-game seasons and has had years where he has played in 12 games or less four times.
