The Denver Broncos traded for Joe Flacco earlier in the offseason, but they were not finished addressing their quarterback situation, as they then went on to select Drew Lock in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft last month.

While Flacco seems like the favorite to win the starting job, Lock still has a lot to prove in training camp, as he is clearly whom the Broncos view as their signal-caller of the future.

Lock has been working overtime to win Denver's coaching staff over.

Since rookie camp began on May 10, Lock says he has progressed very well as far as his grasp on the offense:

“Comparing Day 1 to now, I would say 1,000 times better,” Lock said, according to Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post. “It took some extra grind and some extra work. You think you know what it takes, but then you realize quickly you have to put some more into it. Once I figured that out, it’s gone more smoothly.”

Expected by many to be a first-round pick in the draft, Lock fell to Day 2, and the Broncos were able to nab him with the 42nd overall pick.

The good news for Lock is that he is on a team where he can also learn from a veteran in Flacco while also preparing himself to eventually take over under center at some point in the future:

“I’ll ask Joe stuff in the QB room and I’ll ask Joe stuff on the field, just to figure out how he operates,” Lock said. “You’re that long in the league (12th year) and have won a Super Bowl, you’re doing something right. He’s a really good player and I’m just happy to learn from him.”

Lock is coming off of a senior campaign at Missouri in which he threw for 3,498 yards, 28 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
