The Denver Broncos indicated that they would potentially be looking to switch things up under center heading in the final stretch of the 2019 NFL season. It appears quarterback Drew Lock is set to make his career debut against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13.

Lock has been getting reps with the first-team offense in practice all week. The rookie is reportedly set to get his era started in Los Angeles, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Allen reportedly will be making way for rookie Drew Lock, who is ready to emerge from Injured Reserve

The decision hardly comes as any surprise. Head coach Vic Fangio went back on his initial decision to be patient with Lock following yet another abysmal performance by quarterback Brandon Allen. General manager John Elway doubled down by revealing that the rookie would be getting starter's reps in practice and it seems he has done enough to earn the job.

Lock has spent the entire 2019 NFL season on injured reserve while dealing with a thumb issue. Although being immediately plugged into the starting lineup certainly comes with its fair share of challenges, it is an ideal opportunity for him to show why he was taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

While the Broncos are still struggling to establish an identity on offense, it should not be too difficult for Lock to surpass the impression left by Allen after taking over for quarterback Joe Flacco. It will be interesting to see if he is able to provide them with a much-needed spark in Week 13.
