Drew Lock appears to be the franchise quarterback that the Denver Broncos have been searching for since Peyton Manning decided to retire a few years back. After sitting for most of the 2019 season due to injury, Lock came in and made his first five NFL starts to end the year. Denver ended up going 4-1 in those starts.

Following his big start to his career, Lock opened up about the role that Manning played in his first five career starts, as shared by Broncos Wire.

“It’s stuff that you’ve heard as a quarterback before but to be able to hear it from a different voice with a different twist, it’s nice to have that guy in your corner who can maybe talk you through some scenarios that might pop up in that game,” Lock said. “I reached out to him hoping that we could talk, and he was really quick about responding and we got on the phone.”

Manning may have retired years ago, but he has remained active with the Broncos' organization. Being willing to share words of wisdom with Lock is a huge thing for Denver. Lock has a lot of pressure on his shoulders and Manning is one of the greatest to ever play the quarterback position.

In the five games that he played this season, Lock ended up completing 64.1 percent of his pass attempts for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also picked up 72 yards on the ground.

At 23 years old, Lock has the keys to the future for the Broncos. Having an influence like Manning helping him out will go a long way for the young signal caller.
