Despite not getting the win that they wanted, Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock was still satisfied with what the team showed in their opening game. Just not satisfied enough. The home team succumbed to the visiting Tennessee Titans after a last-second field goal attempt by veteran kicker Stephen Gostkowski.

The sophomore gunslinger had himself a commendable performance after he went 14-of-17 for a total of 142 yards along with a touchdown pass. Despite the effort, Lock still sees an opportunity for the young offense to develop and learn from their errors as the season progresses.

“I feel like it was promising,” he said, via the team’s website. “Made some plays, but we want to be an elite offense. Tonight, with some of the things that we did, including some of the things I did myself, it just wasn’t elite for us.”

Tight end Noah Fant was a primary target for Lock as he accounted for 81 receiving yards on 5 receptions and a touchdown scored for the Broncos. Rookie wideout Jerry Jeudy also made his NFL debut and tallied 56 receiving yards on 4 receptions. Running back Philip Lindsay recorded 24 receiving yards on 7 receptions before he left the game due to a sustained foot injury.

Veteran ball-carrier Melvin Gordon III stepped up in lieu of Linday's absence and had 78 receiving yards on 15 carries and a rushing touchdown. The young Broncos squad is also depleted on the defensive side of the field due to recent injury of cornerback A.J. Bouye along with the absence of Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller who is out for the remainder of the season.

Despite the injuries, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio and his men will still continue to compete against their opponents with whatever they have. They will then be tested by the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 proceedings slated on September 20.
